PROJECT OVERVIEW
At the Royal College of Nursing, London, we provided building support and structural modifications to accommodate an integrated pulley system within the floor above the memorial stairs, enabling the chandelier to be safely lowered for future maintenance.
The existing floor structure was carefully opened, strengthened and adapted to house a specialist motor and lifting mechanism, with a discreet switch control for lowering and raising the chandelier.
All areas affected by the works were made good and reinstated to match the existing heritage finishes, ensuring the memorial staircase and surrounding spaces retained their original character and elegance.
